Black car trunk complete

Rare complete car trunk from the 1900's, covered with black waterproof canvas and equipped with two carrying cases.

This type of luggage was attached to the back of a car and remained on the car throughout the trip. Once arrived at the hotel, the customer took only the two interior suitcases, protected thanks to the trunk from all kinds of bad weather. It is very rare today to find these complete objects.

The black waterproof canvas is sewn directly onto the wooden shaft and nickel-plated brass hinged clasps close the trunk. The two interior cases are in superb condition, covered with a brown canvas with checkerboard patterns. Inside each one, there are clothes fasteners, as well as the different keys for the numerous locks.
The curve at the back of the trunk allowed to follow the shape of the rear hood of the car at that time.
