Louis Vuitton cabin trunk c.1940

Superb Louis Vuitton cabin trunk from the 1940s, covered with a monogrammed canvas and protected by dark lozine borders. We notice on each side, a metal handle stamped Louis Vuitton, and the initial W painted on a red diamond.  The trunk is equipped with three brass clasps stamped Louis Vuitton, as well as 5 wooden slats (Être) to consolidate the shaft of the trunk. The central Louis Vuitton lock is more recent. 

The interior is covered with a linen cloth, with a ribbon star studded into the hood. Originally, this padding was used to secure photos or letters during a trip in the 1900s. Note a compartmentalized frame inside the trunk, with places for ties or shirts, as well as Louis Vuitton stamped fasteners under the frame for larger garments. The Louis Vuitton manufacturer's label is glued to the inside of the trunk, with the various store addresses of the time and the authentication number of the luggage. 

These trunks were originally placed under the bunks in the liner cabins.

Very good condition : The trunk is in superb condition for its age, with a very nice patina of the canvas. We notice some marks on the outside. The interior is in superb condition, with the original layout.
