Goyard cabin trunk c.1920
Goyard cabin trunk from 1920, covered in the iconic Goyardine canvas and protected by leather trim - the most luxurious finish of the era. Also featured are the manufacturer's iconic Goyard-stamped clasps, as well as brass handles and Goyardine canvas. The sides of the trunk are covered with shipping and rail labels, indicating trips to the United States on the famous ship Le France, as well as to the beautiful French town of Arcachon.
There are four one-way wheels under the trunk, with a zinc moisture protection stamped Goyard Paris.
The interior is covered with a coated cotton canvas, with padding to hold the original customer's photos between the ribbons. There is also the Goyard manufacturer's label glued into the trunk, with the serial number and the famous address of 233 rue St-Honoré.
The cabin trunks were 33cm high, which is the height of a bed in an ocean liner cabin or the bunk in a sleeping car - the traveler could easily store his trunk under his bed, whatever the type of travel, train or boat!
Very good condition : The trunk is in superb condition for its age, with a very nice patina of the leather and a nice shine of the brass parts. The Goyardine canvas is slightly marked, but overall in very good condition for its age. The interior is very clean with some fine marks.
