Louis Vuitton trunk commode
Extremely rare Louis Vuitton chest of drawers or trunk from the 1910's, "cabin" size, covered with yellow Vuitonite canvas. Protected by leather borders, this superb model is equipped with two leather handles and 4 loops signed Louis Vuitton to attach a safety strap. The interior is equipped with two removable frames, originally used to store shoes and boots. The corners are saddle-stitched, with a protective seal inside the trunk to protect the contents of the luggage from moisture during a cruise ship trip.
Note the original owner's initials J.M.H on each side, with brass wheels signed Louis Vuitton and four very nice brass hinges on the front. The underside of the trunk is stamped Louis Vuitton, with the various addresses of the Louis Vuitton store at the time.
Thanks to a hinged door, the customer could directly access two fitted drawers without moving the trunk. The hinged door features the Louis Vuitton trunk maker's label and the trunk's production number. A specific clasp, created for this particular model and signed by Louis Vuitton, allows to close the door with as much security as a traditional lock. Brass toggles on each side solidify this closure.
Very good condition: The trunk is in exceptional condition, with a very nice patina of the exterior canvas. The interior is in perfect condition with Louis Vuitton's signature handles.
