Lavolaille courrier trunk
Nice 1900's Lavolaille mail trunk, covered with orange coated canvas and protected by lozine borders. There is a leather handle on each side, with the Lavolaille manufacturer's plate studded on the front. This manufacturer was quite well known at the time, with a large store selling trunks and antique travel items in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.
There are some hotel labels on this trunk, indicating a stay in the grand hotel of Neris-les-bains or in England. The initials of the original owner L.D. are painted on the sides.
There is a brass reinforcement on the bottom of the trunk, to prevent moisture from damaging the contents of the luggage and to reinforce the bottom. The two brass clasps are stamped Lavolaille. The interior is covered with a beige linen in good condition.
Very good condition : The trunk is in very good condition for its age, with some marks on the outer and inner linen.
